About PlacerGrown
PlacerGROWN assists Placer County agricultural producers to market their products; provide educational information to both the community and producers; and to bring farmers, ranchers, community members and organizations together to support agricultural endeavors in Placer County.
The following are four objectives of the PlacerGROWN program:
- Develop expanded demand for locally grown and processed foods.
- Increase agricultural production profitability and opportunity.
- Create and promote a sustainable local food system.
- Enhance and increase economic development and stability in Placer County.
- What does PlacerGROWN do?
- Expand and develop marketing opportunities for farmers and ranchers by establishing direct connections with community members, grocers, institutions such as schools and hospitals, restaurants, and other retail outlets.
- Provide logo, signage, banners, stickers, point of purchase cards and other marketing tools to identify PlacerGROWN producers.
- Promote Placer County agriculture at fairs and community events.
- Provide information materials for community members and the media.
- Promote and expand agritourism.
- Assist the Placer County Agricultural Marketing Program with the development and distributions of the Placer County Ag Guide.
- Maintain and update the PlacerGROWN website to continually promote farmers and ranchers in Placer County and serve as a resource for community members interested in buying local food.
- Produce a quarterly newsletter featuring farmer profiles, seasonal product availability, recipes and a calendar of upcoming agricultural-related events.
- Coordinate events, seminars, workshops and the annual PlacerGROWN Farm Conference.
