PlacerGROWN is celebrating mandarin season by painting Placer County Orange, one mandarin at a time. We are handing out hundreds of pounds of mandarins throughout Placer County on Tuesday, November 15.

The new gold in Placer County California is growing on trees as the County has become known for their intensely flavored, sweet, Mandarin Oranges. The annual Mountain Mandarin Festival, November 18 – 20, will celebrate 23 Magical Years in 2016 with the new crop of delicious, foothills-grown Mandarin oranges. Placer County growers will sell thousands of pounds of fresh Mandarin oranges and gift baskets, accompanied by all the free samples you like. Join in the fun with a Mandarin Recipe cooking contest, professional chef demonstrations, food, artisan crafts, and activities featuring the Mandarin orange, a Peel & Eat contest, live music and entertainment.

Follow the mandarin trail and join Mountain Mandarin Growers’ Association (MMGA) members at our groves the 1st and 3rd weekends in December for Orchard Days. We have loads of family fun in store. Visit the Mandarin Growers Map page to find the groves closest to you and for a list of Orchard Days activities at each ranch. Here are just of few of the things you’ll find:

  • Artists and Crafters
  • Mandarin Product Sampling including Oils, Sauces, Honey, Juice, Cookies, Cakes, Fudge and Spreads
  • Local Wine and Ale Tasting
  • Visit with Santa
  • Farm Animals
  • Face Painting
  • Old-fashioned Kids’ Carousel
  • You Pick Mandarins
  • Other winter fruits and vegetables including oranges, lemons, persimmons and squash
  • Plenty of Bags and Boxes of Local Tree-Ripened, Hand-Picked Mandarins

Mandarin Orchard Visits – Most MMGA (Mountain Mandarin Growers Association) members welcome visitors to their orchards throughout the winter months. Be sure to look for their signs to ensure you’re getting local, tree-riped fruit! For an alphabetical list of members visit the mandarin Grower List. Many growers also ship so you can share this healthy, delicious, easy-to-peel treat with your friends and families. Mandarins make perfect holiday gifts!
