Bear River Winery was founded in 2009 at the north end of Lake Combie on the banks of the Bear River in Meadow Vista. We are a family operated boutique micro wine grower producing small case lots of hand crafted wines using traditional methods from grapes sourced in and around Placer, Nevada and El Dorado county vineyards. We are currently offering six wines for tasting. Our Barbera flight is all produced from Barbera grapes sourced from Viani Vineyards in Pilot Hill.
Bonitata Boutique Wine prides itself on attention to details. Each wine is handcrafted and barrel aged then bottled at the right moment to deliver that special taste to your palate. Our grapes are hand-picked from vineyards located in the Sierra Foothills. The grapes are picked just at the right balance of sugar, pH and acid to produce a very special wine. You can meet the winemaker and ask questions or tour the winery.
Bonitata Boutique Wine is located in the original Bernhard Winery founded in 1874, located at the Bernhard Museum adjacent to the Gold Country Fair Grounds. This historic building is made of stone with two foot thick walls which are partially buried into the hillside. The perfect storage for our hand crafted wines. After enjoying your wine tasting you can take a tour of the rest of the museum. Parking is located at the main museum parking lot just a short walk from the winery. The winery is also available for rent for that special occasion (anniversary, birthday, wedding, etc).

Cante Ao Vinho is a Family Winery which enjoys making wine in the Old World style. Owned and run by the Farinha Family near the old Camp Far West out post along the Bear River. We make a verity of wines, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Italian. We love three things, Variety, Sharing our wines with people who enjoy great wine, and having Fun doing it. Very much the old world way. There are ways to make wine that are ready to drink now, or a way where you must wait for them. And the prize is great.
Although we do not have much patience ourselves the wines are well worth waiting for. Our Tasting Room is in the 1905 granite Joesph Barudoni building at 5250 Front Steet, Rocklin across from the Old Saint Mary’s Chapel. How fitting our old world wines in a time gone by granite building.
Casque Wines was created with one goal in mind—to produce small lots of wine from the absolute best vineyard sources in the Sierra Foothills and surrounding areas. We embrace the time honored French tradition of blending several different varietals together to create a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts. We also seek to create varietal wines that display special character in their own right.
Casque is a small production winery specializing in Rhone and Bordeaux Style wines. We were founded in 2006 with the release of our Le Casque wines in the fall of 2008. We opened up our winery in Loomis in 2011 and the Tasting Room at the Flower Farm in 2013. At our tasting room, we are dog and family friendly with a lovely patio shaded by oak trees and overlooking the pond. We share this beautiful property with a Cafe, Giftshop & Nursery, an Event Barn, and a Bed & Breakfast. The setting is one of the most enjoyable in Placer County.
Ciotti Cellars is a small production winery located in Placer County. Small production means we focus on making small lots of ultra-premium wines for your enjoyment. Because of this limited production we’re able to pay extra attention to details creating wines rich in aromas, deep in color and character with velvety finishes. Using only the finest grapes grown in the Placer County / Napa Valley regions we’ve been able to create a little sunshine in a bottle.

Secreted away in the graceful rolling hills of Newcastle, we offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and have fun while sampling our handcrafted wines. We want you to feel at home, gather here and cozy up with each other. Take a bottle or a glass outside on the patio or stroll through the vineyard. Bring your children, your friends and your dogs. Serves 6; recipe by Courtney McDonald
-6 NY strip steaks or ribeyes
-1/2 cup olive oil
-6 cloves garlic, smashed
-1 shallot, sliced
-2 sprigs rosemary
-2 Tbsp red wine
-4 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced ¼ inch thick
-4 ounces salty blue cheese, such as Bleu d’Auvergne or Roquefort
-1 small red onion or torpedo onion, sliced ¼ inch thick
-1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
-2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
-salt and pepper, to taste
2 hours ahead of cooking time, marinate the steaks – in a large ziplock bag, place ½ cup olive oil, 3 cloves smashed garlic, the sliced shallot, 2 sprigs rosemary and the red wine. Add the steaks and refrigerate for 2 hours to marinate.
Preheat grill. Brush the red onion slices with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill onions until slightly softened and beginning to caramelize, about 1 minute on each side. On a large platter, lay out the tomato slices in a shingled pattern. Crumble the blue cheese evenly on top, then layer the grilled red onion on top of that. Crush the basil leaves and sprinkle over the platter to garnish. Drizzle the tomatoes with the olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside while grilling the steaks.
Remove the steaks from the marinade and season with salt and pepper. Grill to desired doneness and let rest 10 minutes before serving. Serve alongside the tomato platter.

The winery has beautiful areas that overlook the vineyards with big red umbrellas, humming bird feeders, roses, flowers and trees to delight your senses.
